The Inspiration: Indigo Oyster 2 captures the spirit of the Lowcountry Oyster Roast—a ritual of community, fire, and tide. In the South, the oyster represents the "gathering," a seasonal celebration where stories are told over steaming tables and newspaper-lined trays. This piece focuses on the luminous, iridescent interior of the shell, using cerulean and cool grays to mimic the coastal light that reflects off the water during these winter gatherings. April uses sculptural impasto to create a sense of movement, inviting the viewer to remember the laughter and connection found in this quintessential Southern tradition.
