Drawing on her background in the Humanities, April explores how the oyster has shaped the architecture and economy of the Lowcountry, from the lime used in historic tabby structures to the bustling oyster houses of old Charleston. This painting focuses on the sculptural architecture of the shell, utilizing high-contrast highlights and deep shadows to bring a modern, sophisticated edge to a historic subject.
